Individual Performance and Essay Portfolio
This assignment aims to assess your development as a solo performer and your ability to critically evaluate your instrumental development. There are two parts to this assignment, a solo performance which will be supported by three mini essays that will be done over the course of the module.
Part A) Solo performance on your identified main instrument. The performance repertoire will be discussed and agreed with module tutor. The performance will be 8 minutes in duration.
Part B) A portfolio consisting of two essays based around two of the following essay headings:
1: Becoming an Ensemble Musician and/or
2: 1920-1940, A Critical Perspective and/or
3: A Special Study Analysis
The two will total 2,000 words and students will have the opportunity to improve their work before final hand-in. A minimum of 5 references per essay, three of which have to be published texts.
